Quick Death
Hva skjer? Teaterforestilling publisert den 17/10/2009 02:23 pm av Lill LegardIn the course of 2009 Attic Productions started with the preparations for the performance “Quick Death” written by Richard Murphet. “Quick Death” explores the theme death in a broad understanding of it, as seen in motion pictures and in the theatres. The play is inspired by 1940 century crime movies and Film Noir, which is expressed through the following examples: Death – the illusion of death in film and theater as a death to occur from. Epilepsy – known in some civilizations as small or quick death. Orgasm, or ‘petit mort’ – which is physiologically linked to epilepsy. Violence – spasmodic death as the last deathscene in “Bonnie and Clyde”.
The actors’ dialogue, thoughts and monologues are in the soundscape. The interplay between action and sound is ambiguous, this opens up a space between action and words in which the viewer are to decide if this is the protagonist inner voice, a voice or an eyewitness. The play appeals to the audience careful observation and reflection over the images as they quickly appears on the scene.
The play is written in English and will be worked out and shown in English. The long-term plans are to tour the play in countries outside Norway.
The play will premiere September 22nd 2010 in Oslo.
